The Gospel of Jesus

The gospel is the good news that God sent his son, Jesus Christ,  to bring forgiveness by dying for our sin, freeing us from its destruction. Jesus gives us hope of an eternal future with God in heaven. He also provides us with the perfect model of how to live our lives now, here on Earth, to please Him and bring this hope to others!

Knowing Jesus as your Savior and Lord truly is the ultimate source of joy. Keep reading to find out who Jesus is and how he has made a way for you to have a personal relationship with Him and the hope of eternity in heaven.

“The gospel says you are simultaneously more sinful and flawed than you ever dared believe, yet more loved and accepted than you ever dared hope.”

-Tim Keller

We Realize
Realize and admit that you're a sinner and have fallen short of God's perfect, holy standard.
  • "Indeed, there is no one on earth who is righteous, no one who does what is right and never sins." (Ecclesiastes 7:20)

  • "...for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23)

  • "Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all people, because all sinned" (Romans 5:12)

  • "If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us." (1 John 1:8)

We Repent & Jesus Redeems
Believe that God, in an act of sacrificial love, sent Jesus to die on the cross for your sins and to rise again from the grave, triumphing over sin and death. There is nothing we can do to earn this salvation - it is simply a gift of God's grace.
Accept God's gracious gift of forgiveness by repenting of your sin, and accepting Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord. This brings freedom from sin and eternal death (separation from God in hell).
  • "Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" (Romans 5:1)

  • "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

  • "Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death." (Romans 8:1-2)

  • "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." (Romans 10:9)

God Reconciles
Accepting God's forgiveness through Jesus also brings reconciliation between us and God, bringing us into a relationship with God as our loving Father.
  • "For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." (Romans 8:14-17)

  • "But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God—not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:4-9)

The Holy Spirit Regenerates
Regeneration means that the Holy Spirit makes us new and indwells us. He brings us into the family of God and equips us to live obediently to the standards of Christian living set forth in the Bible. He continuously convicts us of ongoing sin in our lives, guides us, gives us understanding as we read God's Word, and grants us not only the ability but also the desire to live a life pleasing to God.
Although we will not perfectly achieve this standard of living, we strive for it by God's grace and the power of the Spirit, and we trust in His continued work in us to make us more like Jesus, which is the process of sanctification. It's by the power of the Holy Spirit that we are sealed for eternity, and continuously sanctified as we live this earthly life.
Accepting forgiveness through Jesus means that the Holy Spirit seals us for eternity in heaven with God.
  • "For if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live. For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba, Father.” The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children.  Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory." (Romans 8:13-17)

  • "So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. Since we live by the Spirit, let us keep in step with the Spirit." (Galatians 5:16-25)

  • "And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory." (Ephesians 1:13-14)

As stated at the beginning, the Gospel truly is good news! It is actually the best news that a world of fallen, broken sinners could ever hope for. We have a God who created us purposefully, knows each one of us intimately, loves us unconditionally, and proved it all by sending His Son to die for our sins so we could spend eternity in heaven with Him.
