Our Story

Heritage is a community of faith in Jesus Christ, committed to growing deep in our love for Him, growing up in our love for each other, and growing out in our love for those who don’t yet know Christ. We welcome people from all walks of life, regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. Come and join us for a Sunday worship service, a small group Bible study, or one of our many family ministry opportunities. We would love to welcome you to the Heritage family.

On May 21, 1969, our “Heritage” began. On that historic day, fifty charter members organized as the Regular Baptist Fellowship and a week later voted to call itself the Heritage Baptist Church. The past forty-plus years comprise a wonderful spiritual heritage as a local church represented by people, ministries, missionaries, worship, Bible teaching, outreach, building programs, and much more. What joy there is in celebrating the past by acknowledging God’s unfailing mercies, great faithfulness, and rich blessings. What hope there is in anticipating the future into which an all-knowing and ever-present God and Savior leads us!

We believe we are in the middle of a significant time in the life of Heritage Baptist Church. To God be the glory for the great things He has done and for what we can trust Him yet to do. Heritage is growing family representing several generations from a variety of communities and backgrounds. We are people who need the Lord and know the Lord and whose mission is to cultivate a community of Christ followers. Heritage is about loving God and loving people, and doing what’s best for the body. Heritage strives to be a family pursuing meaningful and maturing relationships, and enriching and edifying fellowship. There have been many changes since those early days. Many who were part of Heritage have either moved away or gone to heaven. More changes are still to come. But there are three constants which are the heart of Heritage:

  • Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
  • The Word of the Lord remains forever.
  • Whoever does the will of the Lord abides forever.

As we begin each new year of local church life at Heritage, let’s be those who do the will of God as revealed in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (NIV).
