Wayne Slusser

I was born and reared in Northeast Ohio. While growing up, I did not attend a church that preached the gospel message. Upon receiving a degree in landscape architecture from the U. of Oklahoma, I returned to Ohio to work in a landscape design firm. Two important events occurred in my life at this time: I met my wife Melissa in 1991 and shortly after this, I accepted Jesus Christ as my savior. Melissa and I were married in 1993. Melissa’s dad, a pastor, mentored me for about 3 years until I felt the call of God and surrendered to full-time ministry; Melissa and I moved to Springfield, MO in 1997 where I attended seminary. I graduated with my Master of Divinity degree in 2001 and was asked to be on faculty at Baptist Bible College, Springfield, MO. I taught New Testament and Greek courses at BBC for 14 years and served as Dean of the Seminary for 4 years. While serving on the faculty at BBC, I earned my PhD degree and was also part of a team church plant in Ozark, MO. where I served as co-pastor for 13 years. During this time, our two sons Jack and Nick were added to the family. Our family moved to the Clarks Summit area in June of 2015 to serve on the faculty at the Seminary where I am now the Assistant Dean of the Seminary and Associate Professor of New Testament. We are thrilled to be a part of the family at Heritage Baptist church. Melissa and I attend the BYKOTA ABF, I serves on the Executive Pastor search committee, and Melissa is a part of the worship team. Our boys are active in HSM and currently Jack is a freshman and Nick is in fifth grade in the Abington Heights school district. My goal is to continue to grow spiritually and serve the congregation at Heritage faithfully.
