Merry Christmas to each of you! We encourage you to attend Heritage this Christmas season. GrowZone consists of SonSeekers (Sunday 9:00-11:45 am), C.I.A. (Sunday 5:30-7:00) and Awana (Wednesday 6:30-8:15). Please take note that there will not be SonSeekers (grades K-6) on Dec. 28 and Jan. 4. Nursery through Pre-K will be provided for our younger children.

SonSeekers: In SonSeekers we engage the children in age appropriate classes exploring God’s Word. Jen Tarr along with Jess Lockwood and Korey Collins are continuing to lead our SonSeekers in a study, “The Steps of Jesus,” through the book of Mark during closing worship time. Our SonSeekers are excited to have Kristi Walker visit on Dec. 21 and share with them how God is using her in Germany.

Derflingers copyOur SonSeekers and Awana children have done an amazing job of bringing in their sacrificial gifts for the Derflingers during the month of November. Pray for Charis as she has heart surgery in just a few weeks. Bethany and Daniel have been working in our children’s ministry for several years.

We are praying for Nathan Puksta, a fifth grader who is currently in Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Please pray for Nathan and his family as well as the doctors as they seek to find a diagnosis. There’s still time to bring gifts on Dec. 21. Our 5th and 6th graders are wrapping these gifts to give to him for Christmas.

Large groupC.I.A: Our children under the direction of Elizabeth Tarr, Dianne Rocha, and Stephanie Earle presented a musical, David’s Dynasty, on Dec. 14 . The children and their families enjoyed a cookie reception following the event in our family room. We are proud of our 22 children who have worked diligently since September to make the Christmas story come alive.

Awana: The Awana clubbers are excited to be ministering to the residents of Elan Gardens and Willowbrook as they Christmas carol on Wednesday evening, Dec. 17. The residents look forward to the children coming every year and some have told us that it makes their Christmas. Looking to the new year, our clubbers will begin practice for the Awana Quizzing to take place on Feb. 7 at South New Milford Baptist Church. We have been blessed to minister to several new clubbers over the last few months and look forward to further impact into the lives of families in our community.

Leader Highlight: Meet Tiana Thompson and Alyssa Lough. They have been a faithful volunteers here at Heritage during their time at BBC. They will both be doing student teaching in January. Tiana and Alyssa, we will miss you!

My name is Tiana Thompson and I am now a senior at Baptist Bible College in the Elementary Education Program. God has given me a passion to work with young children and guide them as they grow to know and serve Christ. For the past two years I have been involved with Heritage children’s ministries. I have served in the Kindergarten and first grade Sunday school classes and also in Awana on Wednesday nights. Being involved in the children’s ministry at Heritage has been a very enjoyable experience for me as I have had the privilege of getting to know many of the children. This experience has given me the opportunity to apply what I have been learning in classes and has helped me grow as a teacher and in my understanding of children. I have loved being involved with this ministry and working with your children. Children are a treasure from the Lord and they are the future of our church and community. Every moment spent nurturing and teaching them is never a moment wasted. Please continue to pray for the volunteers in our children’s ministry as they seek to help your children grow in their relationship with their Creator.

Over the past couple of years, I [Alyssa Lough] was given the privilege to work with a wonderful group of students in the kindergarten and first/second grade Sunday school classes. I have loved working with these wonderful students and I have learned so much from them as well. I will miss them immensely. I know the Lord is going to do some great things through them. I love working with young children and that is really what led me to work with these wonderful students over the past couple of years. Right now, I am looking forward to moving on to student teaching during the spring semester and then graduation from BBC in May. My plans for after graduation are not set in stone yet, but my goal is to either teach at a school overseas, or work in a school here in the United States.
